My Virtual Machine Deployment Experience

My Virtual Machine Deployment Experience

#invinciblemachines #invincibleyetpowerful

Technology presents itself as having the solution to every problem…….just mention the problem, think of a solution and viola invite technology. I am sure this was the mindset of those who invented the Virtual Machine, your machine that you do not carry visibly but it is right there with you.

Let me take you on a journey of my first virtual machine experience. All thanks to my Tutor, Bunmi Agbomeji, who guided me. Firs, you create your account with Microsoft Azure, i logged in to the account and began creating the virtual machine. The page showed the good stuffs i can do, see image

I clicked on create virtual machine. It gave me options to chose from and i picked the first option.

Take cognizance of all the categories you will be making choices from i.e. Basics, Disks, Networking, Management e.t.c

Under the Basic list, i did the following……

  1. Pick your subscription. Being that i am on a free version (for 30 days), i picked the Azure subscription.

  2. Pick/Create/name a resource group I created a resource group by clicking on create, and gave it a name …..Ogbanla, after naming it, you have to ensure the name is recognized.

  3. Name the machine. Gave the machine a name Ileise, you can pick whatever name you want as long as the system accepts it.

  4. I picked the region i want my machine stored. I picked Africa, South Africa

  5. Availability Zone was left at the availability.

6. Zone options. I picked the self selected zones. One can pick up to 3 zones.

  1. Availability zone. I picked zone 1 alone.

  2. Security type

  3. Image. For the free ride i picked windows 10 pro.

  4. VM architecture, i chose the one that was not graded out. x64.

  5. Run with azure spot disccount…..my tutor says ‘awoof dey run belle’ in our local parlance it means free is not always good (lol).

  1. Pick memory size. Being on free version, i picked 1 gig, its so small though.

  2. Hibernate. The size i picked does not work with the hibernate option.

  3. You must not forget your user name and password. It is needed here.

  4. You are at liberty to select the accessible ports from the public internet.

  5. I picked RDP and HTTPS.

  1. Check the licensing box.

After this move on to the next step which is DISK.

    DISK

    1. Encryption is faded out.

    2. OS disk size is left at image default.

    3. Disk type is set at Premium SSD

    4. I checked the delete with VM

    5. The key management is set at platform managed.

    6. 7

    7. I like to create and attach a new disk to my machine, so i click on create and attach a new disk.

      1. A new disk was created automatically, all i needed to do was click ok since i am satisfied with the given options.

The new disk is ready.

  1. You move on to Networking by clicking next.

    NETWORKING

I clicked on create new to get a public ip address.

  2. I clicked on ok after i got the public ip address. And moved on to Management, skipped it, also skipped monitoring, advanced and tag, Then i clicked on review and create where it was validated.

  3. I clicked on create. Deployment was in progress then it got completed.

  4. I clicked on Go to resource

    I then clicked on connect

  5. Click on download RDP file and open it after you download

  6. Click on connect and enter your password.

  7. INITIALISING THE DISK

  8. To initialise the disk

I went into the operating system using the command

  9. I right clicked on the disk and chose the New Simple Volume and followed the wizard instructions to the end (finish).

  10. I enjoyed the virtual machine creation. Looking forward to more ………..
